A large-scale deployment of Eye-In's indoor wayfinding solution across a 85,000 m² hospital campus in Montréal, reducing navigation time and improving the patient experience.
Discover how Eye-In designed and deployed a complete indoor wayfinding ecosystem across the entire hospital campus.
From appointment confirmation to post-visit: how Eye-In guides every visitor through the hospital.
Since deploying Eye-In's wayfinding solution, our patient satisfaction scores related to navigation have improved by 34%. Our reception staff can now focus entirely on care. They no longer spend a third of their shift giving directions.
McGill University Health Centre is a sprawling multi-building healthcare campus serving over 320,000 patients and visitors annually. With 6 interconnected buildings, 12 floors, and hundreds of specialized departments, navigating the facility had become a significant operational challenge.
Surveys revealed that 1 in 3 patients arrived late to their appointment because of navigation difficulties. Reception staff reported spending up to 2 hours per shift answering directional questions. The hospital's signage system (last updated in 2009) was inadequate for the growing complexity of the campus.
Eye-In deployed a fully integrated indoor wayfinding solution covering every touchpoint of the patient journey. Working closely with the hospital's facilities team, we created a precise digital map of the entire campus, including all corridors, elevators, stairwells, and departments, updated in real time as room assignments change.
The deployment combines 24 high-touch interactive kiosks at key entry and decision points with a mobile-first wayfinding experience accessible via QR codes placed at 180+ locations throughout the facility. Multi-language support (French, English, Spanish, Arabic) and a dedicated accessibility mode ensure every visitor can navigate with confidence.
Every stakeholder in the hospital benefits from a smarter, more connected navigation experience.
Patients benefit from reduced stress and fewer missed or delayed appointments. The ability to plan their route before arrival (via a link sent with their appointment confirmation) sets expectations and builds confidence from the first interaction.
Staff save significant time no longer navigating directional questions and workflow interruptions. With navigation handled autonomously by the system, clinical and administrative teams can focus entirely on care and their core responsibilities.
Volunteers gain a reliable and always up-to-date wayfinding tool that allows them to provide faster, more accurate assistance, enabling them to focus on higher-impact patient interactions rather than memorizing building layouts.
Visitors and families can find their way to patients' rooms and waiting areas more easily, without relying solely on information desks or printed floor plans. Real-time updates mean they are never sent to a wrong or closed area.
